International Person Data

OSU facilitates students' academic and personal success through the gathering of relevant data. Individual offices and departments oversee initial data collection and storage, following applicable laws and policies. This information is not exhaustive but is meant to illustrate what is typical on campus. This section may be updated as needed without notification. This data is specific to international students and scholars. Other categories, such as Student Record Data and Academic Data, also pertain to international students.

What Purpose Does the Data Serve
  • Report immigration information for registration and maintenance of legal status
  • Support appropriate reporting for employment purposes
  • Ensure continuous enrollment for international students
What Data Do We Collect
  • Banner: Immigration information, including country of origin, SEVIS number, and duration of status
  • Glacier: US Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) are stored for payroll and tax document purposes

Student/Scholar Inititated

  • Submit student admission application materials
  • Submit immigration documents for employment processes
Where We Share Data
  • US Government (SEVIS database)
  • Anonymized, aggregated data may be shared through IRA Dashboards
When We Retire Your Data
  • Follow state retention guidelines and federal regulations to retain data
